mykonosIt's the tourist Mecca of Greece. Mykonos is bright and breezy with fine sandy beaches by day and by night the hum of the bars and throb of discos into the wee hours is all part of the scene. It is the island where locals and plain ordinary holidaymakers rub shoulders with the yacht set, jet set, artists and celebrities from all over the world.

NafplioNafplio is considered to be one of the most picturesque and "aristocratic" towns of modern Greece. Nafplio was the first capital of the Modern Greek state (until 1834), and the influence of the western culture is very obvious in the old town which remebles a lot to traditional cities of Central Europe.

NisyrosNisyros is a small volcanic island, a mere 41 square kilometres in area, situated between Kos and Tilos. The volcanic landscape that resembles the moon, is combined with lush vegetation, curiously though, as the island is waterless. The scientific explanation is that the soil holds moisture, being rich in minerals.

PaxiPaxi is the smallest island group within the Ionian Islands. The largest islands are Paxos and nearby Antipaxos. Antipaxos is famous for its wine and two of the finest sand beaches in the Ionian Sea. The main town of Paxoi is Gaios. In Greek mythology, Poseidon created the island by striking Corfu with his trident, so that he and his wife Amphitrite could have some peace and quiet.

PorosPoros, called Calaureia in ancient times, was the island of Poseidon, god of the sea. This is evident from various literary references and from the traces of the temple of Poseidon, which are to be found in the middle of the island. This fact may account for why Poros was chosen to be the headquarters of an amphictyony (alliance) set up in the 7th century BC whose members were seven cities.
